Four leading chamber Musicians and old friends will be performing Czech composer, Martinu's extraordinary, virtuosic piano quartet; its three movements move through intense emotion, lyricism and playful, folk music-inspired fantasy. Followed by one of Brahms's masterworks: the C minor piano quartet, often known as the Werther Quartet due to its allusions to Goethe's novella 'The Sorrows of Young Werther'. It is a work of passionate intensity and lyrical beauty.
